Tarragona Cruise Port Costa Daurada represents the launch of a new project that will be introduced at the international Cruise Shipping Miami trade fair, which is being held from 10-13 March in Miami Beach. This presence will allow the new brand to be introduced to a wide range of major travel agencies at the international level.
A delegation from the Port of Tarragona headed by its president Josep Andreu will be travelling to the Florida city, accompanied by Tarragona’s councillor of Commerce and Tourism, Patrícia Antón, as well as by the port’s cruise ship technical team. The purpose of this appearance in Miami is to consolidate the emerging relationships formed through the new promotional strategy, in order to successfully turn Tarragona into a top cruise line destination.
This project has been created by a working group led by the Port of Tarragona with participation from the Tarragona Provincial Tourism Board, the Tarragona Municipal Tourism Board, the Chamber of Commerce, Tarragona Industry and Navigation, the Tourism Employers Association, the School of Tourism at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, PortAventura, and BCN World.
The region’s increasing maturity as a top tourism destination and the possibilities for opening up to the international market are the main reasons behind the definitive entry of Tarragona and the Costa Daurada into the competitive world of cruising. There are already more than 5 million tourists from Spain and the rest of Europe visiting Tarragona and the Costa Daurada each year, which has helped to securely put the region on the international tourism map.
The Port of Tarragona will participate in Cruise Shipping Miami via a stand in the area reserved for Spanish ports. The goal is to raise the profile of the Port of Tarragona and the Costa Daurada as an internationally known tourism and cruising destination, and within the context of a strategy focused on becoming a major port for the cruise industry. Some specific new promotional materials will also be presented in Miami in relation to the new Tarragona Cruise Port Costa Daurada brand, such as the new corporate website, a promotional video, and a catalogue with general information and photographs highlighting the region’s tourism attractions. All of these materials will also be made available to the specialised professionals from the cruise line companies.
